How to Report a Possible Error
Use the Contact Carvul page to report a possible correction. Please include the article URL, the specific sentence or claim in question, why you believe it is inaccurate, and a link to any reliable supporting source. Primary sources such as NHTSA records, manufacturer documents, government publications, lender disclosures, insurance documents, and official regulatory guidance are especially helpful.
How We Review Correction Requests
We compare the reported claim with the sources used for the article and with newer authoritative information when available. For recall and vehicle-safety information, we prioritize official NHTSA records and manufacturer recall resources. For financing, insurance, tax, and legal topics, we review the applicable official disclosures or government guidance and keep in mind that rules, rates, eligibility, and availability can vary.
A correction request does not automatically result in a change. We distinguish between a factual error, a reasonable difference of interpretation, information that has changed since publication, and a preference about wording. Carvul may contact the person submitting the request when clarification or additional evidence is needed.
How Corrections and Updates Are Presented
- Material factual corrections: We correct the relevant passage and add a visible note explaining what changed when the correction could affect a reader’s understanding or decision.
- Routine updates: We may update prices, specifications, availability, regulations, recall status, or other time-sensitive information and refresh the page’s modified date.
- Minor edits: Typographical, formatting, grammar, or broken-link fixes that do not change the meaning may be corrected without a separate notice.
- Clarifications: We may rewrite a passage when the original wording was technically accurate but could reasonably mislead or confuse readers.
Safety and Time-Sensitive Information
Automotive recalls, investigations, incentives, financing terms, insurance rules, vehicle availability, and repair guidance can change. Readers should confirm safety information with NHTSA and the vehicle manufacturer using the vehicle identification number, and should verify financial or insurance terms directly with the relevant provider before making a decision.
Editorial Independence
Correction decisions are based on accuracy and evidence. We do not remove accurate information solely because a person, company, advertiser, manufacturer, or other party disagrees with it.
